Hello JJ

You aren't legally obliged to disclose your prior bankruptcy but if a potential lender specifically asks you whether you have ever been made bankrupt (which I believe that most do)you have to answer the question honestly.

Hope that helps.

Welcome to the Forum J.J,

Unless they ask you whether you have ever been made bankrupt, you dont have to tell them. Obviously if they do ask it is better to be honest & upfront. Best of Luck with getting a mortgage [:D]

Hi J.J

Even if you say you are discharged it will not make any difference to your application or the mortgage product you are offered - it's long over..

Don`t worry about getting a mortgage if being a discharged bankrupt is your concern, you will be asked if you have ever been bankrupt and with an answer in the affirmative it still won`t be a problem to you as long you meet other criteria i.e. having the required deposit or relevant P60 earnings. Each case is judged on it`s own indidvidual merit`s, you would actually be surprised how close the rates would actually be for yourself, so no worries.
