I am considering applying for an iva after accepting that I will never pay off my debts by only paying the minimum amount each month. I am recently married however all my debts are still in my maiden name. My husband is worried that if i apply for an IVA it will affect his credit score. Is this the case?

Hi Diane, and welcome.

Your husband can rest easy, as long as the debts are all totally yours his credit score will not be affected.

If you are thinking of going down this route, I recommend that you speak to an IP. Visit www.iva.com for a list of companies, or click on the expert link on the left hand side of the page. The professionals who post on here come highly recommended. Give one or two a call and they will advise you of all your options.

It should not affect his credit score, but if it does he can file a notice of disassociation from you at the credit agenceis.
