It could be Clare that the forum is becoming a closed shop, the Queen watches over her foot soldiers who in turn love their Queen perhaps after attending a few social functions, and agreeing entirely with regular posters you will also become loved.
Let's be clear, Clare was correct in that generally bankruptcies are no longer advertised in the local press, however Melanie has quite rightly also stated that there are exceptions and that other publications will still advertise bankruptcies.
No one is trying to score points, it is all about giving the correct information and advice.
Daniel, I am disheartened with your comments, you along with any other poster are welcome to post until your hearts content. If you feel the forum is not for you then do not post, if you feel that it is a closed shop then do not post. I have spent years building this forum up and have always prided myself on the fact that it is open to all without being overtaken with adverts, abuse and solicitation for business as so many other forums are.
First of all if my comments have upset you then please accept my heartfelt apologies, sometimes my internal humour gets the better of me I have the utmost respect for you as an individual, however I do personally feel the forum is becoming a closed shop and I will make this my last post and go and play elsewhere.
I will wish all posters of the forum the best for the future and say I have enjoyed my time on the forum over the years, I think posters like Leslie, Foggy,Orchid, plasticdaft and others are a great asset to the forum who like me give their time for no reward.
Goodbye and good luck to you all, and Andy sorry again all the best to you also
I would just like to add that Melanie and Lesley are totally correct. I am sure Melanie can defend herself but maybe she is too busy polishing her crown or holding court for the Dalai Lama!
Seriously though, we are based in N Ireland and bankruptcies are published on a Friday in the Belfast Telegraph which is widely read throughout the whole province and not just Belfast. People here genuinely fear the perceived stygma of bankruptcy which is greater than on the mainland. I know for a fact that if bankruptcies were not published there would be many more of them and only recently I met a woman who is retired and on benefits who just refuses to petition. The sole reason is the publication and she fears snide remarks and even abuse from her neighbours once they see the paper.
It is only fair to advise clients that there can be publication on the mainland and I personally advise them to call their local ORs office and ask them what the local policy is. This keeps everyone right.

I am not a very well known poster and i have never been to a social function but i find this forum absolutely fantastic. It has saved my sanity so many times during my IVA as my husband and i have never told anyone and i dont like to bother him too much with it so really i would feel very isolated without this forum. My questions are always answered, people are always kind and i find it very rewarding to answer other peoples questions and share my experience. I think Melanie is fantastic and if i had found this forum before i started my IVA she would be my IP. She answers questions well, she shows interset and concern as do all the others so im really not sure what all this nonsense is about. So there! [;)]
But on a serious note, those of us who practice nationwide will understand that to advise someone that bankruptcies are not advertised is not correct. I corrected the inaccuracy, if that has upset some people then that's life. Personally I accept contrasting views graciously, and would never dream of airing my views in sarcastic comments on a public forum.
We still occasionally see bankruptcies still advertised in the regions in which I sit on OR rotas - more generally if they are self-employed tradespersons rather than consumers.
