Funnily, I have heard loads of bad news about smile -- yet good about co-op !!! Do they share the same staff ??
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I've no idea Foggy, I only transfer money into the account from my Natwest one and then write a cheque as at the time the Natwest didn't offer me a cheque book (although it does now).
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Trouble is - they have already use overseas offices for non urgent services, and they streamlined their front staff in the UK a few years ago.

They pushed for people to use their secure message service (as its cheaper for them) but their own response time have quadrupled. And their Banking telephone service cost about 8p/min

Their addresses Co-op and Smile are the same.

Oh - god - whinging again !!!! :-)

You could always use Saynoto0870 ginger to get a normal number. I use it all the time.

Before I went into the IVA, I opened 2 basic accounts at different banks (on the same day). Just in case!

Needless to say, 5.5 years down the line, both are still intact.

For interest, I use one purely for ebay!
Best Wishes,
Tina x

We still have our Barclays account open. They were one of my creditors but not hubby's and at least it is a full account with cheque book. We pay enough in to keep it open and will probably return to that post IVA. Nationwide is ok, especially now they've upgraded the debit card, but I prefer Barclays.

also if you have a branch near you check out the yorkshire bank.they do a cashminder type account if you cannot get a full current account.
they are iva friendly and the online banking is very good and free.
they are not related to any of the big lenders so chances are you will be fine shifting your stuff to them.
cc received 6th January 2014 now upwards and onwards

Thanks for all your advice. Am going to write to all our creditors to explain cannot meet their minimum payments but will send them a token payment as that is what Payplan has recommended. Not looking forward to receiving the harrasment from the credit card companies/bank loan companies whilst trying to sort IVA. Hope it is all going to be OK as really don't want to go bankrupt but we do hav surplus income so fingers crossed!

You will get harrassment and it is a pain. I never made any token payments at all.

The harrassment is a pain in the bottom. But remember that you are one step ahead of them and they cannot do anything to you now that you are inthe process of setting up an iva. xx
