Maz – once you are a ‘discharged’ bankrupt you can obtain a mortgage. Some lenders view satisfied IVAs’ in a slightly more favourable light, but the main difference is you can still obtain a mortgage or remortgage during an IVA whereas you cannot whilst you are still bankrupt.

Thanks guys...nice to know i was justifed in my anger. I have spoken to her since and as she informed me that she had 50% equity in her home, i told her that she would lose that to pay the purpose build debts and she looked horrified....i'm glad to say.

I personally feel that these types of veiws on IVA's need stamping out...xx
