I can't believe it!!!!

Well today, I had to finally bite the bullet and have some contact with my creditors. I haven't missed a payment yet, so was hoping that I could avoid this for a couple more weeks, however, I didn't realise that they would be notified when I cancelled the direct debits. So today I had to call 2 of them to tell them why. OMG, I was shaking I was that nervous. I had to call my biggest creditor, Lloyds TSB, and Egg. You know what. They were lovely. After the 2nd call I was almost in tears because they were so nice to me. Egg even offered to put me in contact with some IP's that they recommend. I turned them down, cos I already have one and she's lovely. The guy at Egg warned me that I would receive a default notice after I missed a payment and then a termination notice, but he said to just ignore them as it's all part of the IVA process. And the guy at Lloyds even wished me luck!!!

So anyway, thats 2 down. 5 more to go. I just hope they're all that nice to me. Have sent my letters off today letting all of them know what's going on. Hopefully telling them before I start missing payments will mean they'll go easy on me. I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway. [:)]

Yes thank god for LLoyds and Egg who were also my main creditors. They were great throughout my IVA application and voted YES at my creditors meeting [:)]

Thats a great positive post Johnz and its fab to hear good stories like these...i really do think it all depends on who you get on the phone and you got human beings by the sound of it....LOL

Am starting to get hopeful, even though I've got a long way to go. Part of me still can't get my head around the fact that this is possible. Also, I think I've been getting confused about the rules. I read somewhere that if any one creditor holds 15% or more of the value of my total debt and they vote yes, then it's automatically approved. But then I read somewhere else that 75% of my debtors have to vote yes. Confused? I will be.

Well done John, youre on the road now, eh??? Its a strange feeling I remember shaking like a leaf when I went to open a basic bank account a year ago, I was almost in tears as I walked out with my account number in my hand. There are times when you feel elated, like when you realise all you have to do is stick to a budget and other times when you feel so alone and hopeless but as you become more settled it will get better. Just the other day I was on the phone to a creditor trying to sort something out and I was shaking too. One email to my brilliant friends skip and scaredkez was all that I needed to forget about it. I dont think anyone can really appreciate the weight of debt until they have been there. Thats why the forum is so important, its a vital support to us all even if you dont talk about the actual problems youre having that day. Its good to read others and identify with everyone.

I have 13 credit card creditors and they have all been entirely understanding with the exception of Goldfish who were agressive and unpleasant from the start
