I've had £150 deposited into my old account which is part of the IVA from my employers for expenses they owe me over a period of time.

I'm sitting here crying, sorry to be a big girl, but I realise that there's more chance of winning the lottery than the bank giving it me back.

I sooo need that money [:(!]

Is there any chance because it's part of the IVA that they'd give it me back............ I know there isn't.... just clinging onto a bit of hope....

Oh no ValiantGal that's awful..[:(]

I was so worried about that happening with my expenses as they are huge every month I must have got on the lady at works nerves with me checking and re checking that she had actioned the change of acount.

I suppose there is no harm in trying to get the money out of your old account........after all you are in an iva and they must know that it is a genuine mistake[?]

Thats a lot of money to be without while in an iva and I hope you manage to get it back[:)]

It's like losing a million pounds, your budget is sooo tight, I'm going to call them tomorrow, but I know the answer already.

Oh well I could always look on it that it's £150 paid off [:(] I'l let my IVA company know that the balance has reduced if I don't get any joy tomorrow.

Why did your employers pay them into that account? Did you advise them that you were operating a new account, and have they failed to comply with those instructions?

would it work like that - to reduce your blance or would the bank just look on it as an extra bonus???

As Melanie says if you informed your employer of change of account and they paid into old account then its their mistake and I would be asking for them to rectiy it.

They held the details on the accounts database. I did put on the form my bank details, which are different than those on the database. They obviously didn't check.

I'll have a word with them, but it's rather embarrassing.

I know what you're saying, but from their point of view, they've paid me! I'll give it a go though. But I can't say i'll really push it, don't want it marking my cards [|)]

This happened to me (£430 travel exp). I made an appointment with the bank. They phoned my IP while I was there and the money was paid out over the counter to me.

This happened to me when I did some exam marking work for AQA ... I hadn't worked for them for a few years and forgot that they would have my old account details and they deposited £300 in my old Lloyds account. I tried to withdraw it over the counter in my local branch and I was made to feel so much like a major fraud criminal, ot a great train robber that I was too embarassed to pursue it any further [:(]

DLA did this to me and I was deverstated. I told the DLA people NOT to make any further payments to my old bank account. They still did it even though I explained my situation. I just went to the bank and withdrew it, I was physically shaking going into the branch and facing the wrath of the cashier but I just couldnt lose that money. They paid it over to me without a word.

I'm hoping that if I can get my IP involved i'll get it back. I realise I owe them money, but I've got an arrangement to pay as much as I possibly can. As you are all aware, every penny is precious

I might be being naive, but, you have entered a legal arrangment to pay them back. They cannot have the money twice. They will get it, but but will have to release it now and await till it goes through the proper chanels and get thier fair share.Trouble is it ?will be looked on as a windfall anyway? I do think if they keep it they would be breaking the rules. However they may not pay to you, they nay pay straight to IVA.

If your employers have not acted on your instructions then surely they have duty to you to request return of that money by the bank - otherwise they will need to rearrange a further payment to you- at the end of the day it is your employers fault - surely you can't take it out of the old account now as in your IVA you are told to return or destroy all cards, cheque books relating to that account and therefore you shouldn't have access to it.
Blame lies with your employer!

Well I am well and truly shocked. I had to call the head office who put me through to the company that holds the debt. They said that if my IP company writes and confirms that the £150 isn't part of the IVA, I can call into my local branch with the letter, they will then call the office to confirm that the funds can be returned.

Thank you to the Halifax!
