In Sainsbury's this morning, there was some easy peel satsumas reduced from £1 to 75p, always loving a bargain (and satsumas) I bought some, when I went through the checkout I was charged the full £1 for them so off I went to customer services, where the young girl behind the counter insisted on giving me the 75p back, even though I had only been overcharged by 25p.[:0][:o)]
So the satsumas were an even better bargain and only cost me 25p, what is more worrying is she was saying so many people she had given refunds to for the same thing this morning, so if you hear of Sainsbury's in financial trouble you will know why.

That said -- many youngsters are incapable of basic arithmetic without electronic aids.

Daughter works in Sainsbury I'll have to ask her as I know she does code checking to reduce items I'll see if it works it out for you or whether you do it manually.

She's been home this Christmas and anything we've purchased from Sainsbury I do know she's got her staff discount and at the minute it's 15% off so I've saved a fair bit.

Just in case anyone gets overcharged again at Sainsbury, their policy is that they refund you the amount you have been overcharged, and then give you that amount again doubled as compensation.

This happened to me where I was overcharged £1.50. They gave me the £1.50 back and then another £3.00 on top to say sorry. I think the amount must be capped however

It's not a Sainsburys policy as such but Store Managers have discrepancy to award compensation for mistakes. If the mistake is on a larger item, electrical for example, the compensation would not be doubled.

We already have some presents for next Christmas courtesy of Sainsburys and hubby's discount.

To be fair, mental arithmetic seems a thing of the past now - so can't really blame the youngsters.

I've been taking advantage of daughter's discount and already been shopping for next week before she goes home tomorrow to work in Sainsbury!

My first job was on the checkouts and epos had just been brought in...no need to think, the machine did it all.

My grandchildren are learning their times tables and thankfully the tune is still the same!

I think it's amazing when children are bi or even tri lingual. Where I live has a lot of Easter Europeans and they come into the college where I work and translate for their parents all the times, I find it not only fascinating but also admirable that they have this ability.
