My girls do the same Foggy! I am very rusty with my Welsh, so they have great fun!

It is fantastic to hear them speak it though.

Unfortunately it seems that a lot of people today can't speak English, let alone a second language! It amazes me when I hear about people applying for jobs using CVs that contain spelling mistakes. They would go straight in the bin!

I was also shocked that, in a lot of schools, teachers don't correct mistakes in spelling and grammar.

I've recently graduated with a degree in teaching as some of you know. When I first enrolled, I went to the first lesson and all I could think was that I needed to learn English first, it was horrific and I never thought I could get through it. I did and I learned a lot along the way but I luckily had my eldest son and youngest daughter both completing degrees and not long out of state education so I could ask them lots and they did help me. Without them I do think I would have given up.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Regarding mental arithmetic, its probably my sons forte! His problem is that he often has to show his working out which is an issue as he doesnt see the need!

Hi Paul --- I guess you have tried telling him that, in exam situations, the method gets more marks than the answer. Under pressure they accept that the arithmetic might go astray, leading to an incorrect answer, but, as long as the mathematics (method) is sound, you will get due credit.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
