Hi I have started an IVA and have a creditors meeting arranged for 10th May 2010. I owe money to provident and have sent them a letter telling them I have started an IVA but have just got a text from my agent telling me she will be calling on Friday. Can anyone advise me what to do? I don't want to have to hide behind sofa for next 2 weeks.

I thought this was a thread about Dr Who(I used to hide behind the sofa when the daleks were on!!!).

As Helen says dont worry about the agent calling, she will try and get some form of payment from you,but simply refuse. This may be easier to do on the doorstep rather than letting her in,but dont worry about it.

Is it the provident that charge a massive amount of interest??

Let her have your IP's details and try not to worry.

Hi Hilary,
Don't worry, provident are usually quite good once they know the situation. We had a loan with them and as soon as they were aware of our IVA they stopped calling all together. It may be worth ringing the agent to explain the situation as they may appreciate not having a 'wasted' visit, you never know.
Take care and try not to worry.

I agree that you should perhaps phone the office and explain what you are doing.

At least then they should stop the agent calling.

I agree too. Give them a call and explain and they will maybe stop the agent from calling round.

Provident agents are generally very understanding and sympathetic. Don't hide behind the sofa, but invite her in for a cuppa and show her the IVA proposal.
