I'm not sure what I can do, I have approx 12k personal debt paying about £500 a month and simply can not afford it, I want to consolidate it but I don't credit score for a consolidation loan. I have 4 creditors all credit cards and feel I am sinking. Need some help please ;-)

Pop over to www.iva.com and contact a few of the companies on there. They will give you sound and appropriate advice about your situation without obligation and free of charge. Well done for realising you need help, this is usually the biggest hurdle. Good luck with finding a solution.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Hi Laura - welcome to the forum - you won't feel like you are sinking for long. Give a couple of companies a call and they will help you work out what disposable income you should have if you were not paying your creditors and will then talk through your options. I am confident you will find a way forward and will start to feel better.

We get alot of sinking folk visiting the site. Take my word for it consolidating debt by taking more debt would be a bad idea, thats what we tried and it made our situation worse!!

Use the link provided to contact 2 or 3 firms for advice. Write down a list of income and expenses before you call and as accurate as possible a list of who you owe what to,make sure you dont leave anyone out.

There will be a way out and by getting help you have already improved your situation.

When you first come on the forum you feel like you are sinking - but after reading a few of the blogs and threads it doesn't take long to bobble back to the top.....the hardest thing is over and that is admitting your debts and asking for help.....use www.iva.com to contact a few companies and then go with the one you feel most at ease with. Keep posting and we will support you all the way !
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !

Hi Laura

We have all been in that "sinking boat" at some point but this forum is definately the "life jacket".[:)]

As already suggested you need to contact a few different companies and explain your situation.
Remember you are not on your own as thousands are struggling with debt.

I thought consolidation loans were the answer at first but soon ended up in a bigger mess.

You have already started to take control of the situation by admitting you need help and I hope you get sorted
