I finally did it!!! I made that 'phone call.

I know it sounds bizarre, but I was really scared to speak with someone. I rang the 0800 number above and had a long chat with a guy who was very, very helpful and non-judgmental. At certain points I could have cried. Which is strange as he was only telling me things I knew. IVA is definitely a 'no' because our income to mortgage ratio ( I think this is what he called it) is 59%. BR is the best and essentially only option for us. I had prepared myself for this but still staggered to hear it, if that makes sense. A fresh start is what we needed so hopefully that is what ww will end up with.

I'll be posting a few questions re BR so please bear with me. But I would like to say thanks to Melanie, Paul, Andy, Ian and everyone else who has given time to reply to my queries, concerns and worries.

Well done it is hard to take the initial step but you've done it and are now on your journey. When I had my first telephone meeting with Melanie she may recall I couldn't stop crying! She offered to call back but I insisted on carrying on and she calmed me down!

Melanie - Mortgage is on repayment not interest only. F+ killed us.

If you moved to an interest only mortgage this would reduce the mortgage to earning ratios. Is this worth exploring?
