Hello,

I am 20 months into my IVA and I have a question that's been on my mind for a while. I've been living and working abroad whilst paying into my IVA and recently I started to think about settling down in the country I'm in. My questions are, am I able to file for bankruptcy and what are the implications or consequences of filing for bankruptcy at this stage of my IVA, and what effect will this have on me should I choose to return to the UK at some stage in the future? I might add that I do not own any assets in the UK (car, house etc).

Why would you want to file for bankruptcy as a result of your relocation? You could continue with your IVA quite easily from abroad.

I agree, if you can still afford to pay, then carry on with your IVA. If you went bankrupt now then your credit record here would be shot for a further 6 years and you may still end up having to pay money across for a further 3 years.
