i know what you mean weston, we phoned our court one day and was told the appointment could be for the next day, its very quick here, i just wished i had done it months ago and would be nearer discharge now, my iva process took over 6 months, in all to get where i am now was 10 months, ok its not the route you would really like to go down, but for me it has been the best decision me and hubby made, you actually start to miss the telephone calls as it goes so quiet!!

Thanks Kerri much apprecaited.

Melanie - my local court are sending me the forms and have asked me that once recieved, I have to contact them to arrange an appointment - is this the hearing date? do I then fill in the forms and send them off prior to the hearing date and send a copy to my creditors aswell? - I have a meeting with the CAB on wednesday but just thought i would ask these questions as you have been so helpful in the past

many thanks

Hi Weston

Yes the appointment date will be the hearing date, and you will need to take your completed forms back with you with £485 in cash at that time. I think you will be surprised at how easy it is to fill the forms in yourself, but the CAB will not charge you anything for advice so it is worth a visit. You do not need to contact your creditors at all, this will all be done by the Official Receiver as soon as he is appointed.

Yes - that is a good idea, but remember that your duty at this time is towards all creditors to make sure that they get an equal distribution (if any) from the bankruptcy estate.

Hi everyone, quick update - I have my BR hearing on 30th July -I'm amazed at how quick the process is. I have completed the forms and will be going through them with the CAB next week. It all looks quite straight forward - I hope it goes well!! I will be telling my work after the meeting and see what they say.. I'm not hopeful they will keep me on but I'll have to face that when the time comes. I'm taking all your advice about bank accounts and telling my creditors - it really does help to view your comments - I'll update you ll soon.

Hi everyone -not been on here for a few weeks and just thought I would update you with wha is happening. I have cancelled my Bankruptcy apptmt that was due for tommorrow and have put my house on the market. The CAB have contacted all my creditors to offer reduced payments for 6- 12 months with a view of returning to full payments when my house is old. i have told my parents of my debts -it was the hardest thing i have ever done but they have been fantastic and are helping me out. I keep my job which was my main concern with bankruptcy adn can finally see a way through this. NR have been fine with me and even though they rejected my IVA they have been very supportive of me going to the CAB. The one thing that does concern me a little is that since my IVA meeting in June I have heard nothing from egg or halifax -I have made token payments but they have not contacted me at all about the arrears - is this usual practice for them?- anyways, the CAB were fantastic and have helped me no end I highly reccomend to anyone on here - thanks for everyone who has supported me through my journey - I will keep you posted
