I am 38 months into my IVA £250 p/month, my ex partner who I still live with took her IVA out around the same time £450 p/month, we both own the property we live in, there is also a second mortgage on the property around £400 p/month, I have had enough and need to get out, I no longer want anything to do with the property but my ex wants to stay and not sell, what are my options?

do I need to go bankrupt, what implications are there if I just walk and carry on paying my IVA leaving the mortgages down to my ex. I dont know my head is all over the place.

Hi there and welcome to the forum

You need to speak to your IP and discuss the options available to you both. It may be possible to separate the IVAs, but this will also require the co-operation of your ex-partner. Can he/she afford to pay the secured loans without any contribution from you?

Hey there, welcome to the forum from me too.[:)] Sounds like you're going through a horrible time at the moment but I'm sure you'll find a way through. What has your partner suggested? Does she know what you want to do? X

I know exactly what you are going thru, as I too am in exactly same situation. OH hasnt got IVA, negative equity in house, 2 kids. He wont move out says he cant afford to and wont walk away from it he cant rent and pay mortgage. He doesnt want to split but I am done with his drinking and repocussions that come with it, if you know what I mean. I am off to see a solicitor, my head is spinnin too.

Evidence of how debt problems cause other casualties and the strain it can put on relationships ... good luck both of you, I am sure that you will be able to find a solution.
