The company that managed your IVA doesn't influence how long the flag will remain on your credit file.

Your credit file is administered under a number of legal requirements by the 3 UK CRA's.

If you want a definative answer contact the CRA's - the link I have provided above gives you the details of the CRA's together with some useful information. This publication is issued by the Information Commissioner's Office (http://www.ico.gov.uk/) This is a government body and ultimately if you are unhappy with the way an organisation deals with your data you would complain to them.

Hi All this is the final reply from my IP:

As far as I am aware any credit entries will disappear six years from the last activity on the record. On this basis the original registration of your IVA will disappear from November 2007 however any entry showing it was successfully closed in June 2004 may not be removed until June 2010.

Please note the addition and removal of any entries is done by the Credit Reference Agencies – we would have no objection to them taking off any information earlier than planned – it is simply our duty to report the registration and de-registration of IVA’s to the Insolvency Service and they subsequently keep the public informed of the status of the IVA.

So am I right in saying had I let the IVA run its course over the five years and not interjected by settling my debt my file would now be cleared?

Thank you storm I will look into your reply... Sad thing is tomorrow should be a day of celebration for my wife and I but as always another false hope...

Take care all and thank you so much for your responses

James

Hi
It's the quote "as far as I'm aware" that shows you that it is not a difinitive answer.I will report back once I get a reply from the credit agencies.

Andy,

Checked my Credit File this morning and all has disappeared apart from 1 which was a typo on behalf of the company that first bought the debt (Eversheds, Max Recovery)So I guess you were all right - 6 years to the day the IVA was set up the details have now gone...

Hopefully I can now get on with my life... Carefully and Wiser...

Thanks again to all those that have replied at some point during this forum especially Melanie, Storm and of course Andy.

If any of you need a website building I will of course offer you a huge discount!

Kind regards, Take care
James Slater

Hi jamesgs1, Glad that your credit rating has begun to behave itself. I would like to ask you if you would mind writing a review of your experience with your IVA provider on our web site? That is if you haven't done so already. Best of luck for the future.

Many thanks

Hi Andy, could I ask a huge favour, in my forum section: http://www.iva.co.uk/forum/post.asp?met ... ORUM_ID=98

(Posted - 14 November 2007 : 11:29:28

I mentioned the name of a company m...d... can you please remove the company link as it is getting me into a great deal of hot water, I think its probably worth mentioning to others that at no time should people mention employers names or company URL as they may come back and haunt them...

Thanks for your help in this matter

James :)
