I have been in the process of applying for an IVA for the past couple of months. I was advised not to answer creditors calls so I haven't! I let them go to voicemail and then delete the messages. Lloyds have been the worst, I get four calls a day without fail plus letters.

I didn't feel comfortable stopping my payments (I always paid on time even though I used credit to pay credit) and I don't think about all the calls/letters otherwise I would be even more of a nervous wreck than I already am.

Hi Poppy

I would never advise one of my clients to avoid creditor calls whilst an IVA proposal is being prepared. Your creditors have a right to know how things are progressing, and at the end of the day you are going to want to persuade them to write off some of their debt. The fact that you are getting so many calls, is probably to do with the fact that they are unable to get hold of you.

If you feel uncomfortable about stopping the payments to your creditors, why not make them small token payments as a gesture of good faith in the meantime.
