I have previously had an IVA 10 years ago and now due to personal circumstances have a second one. In the first one they allowed me to miss upto 3 payments a year if needed, and then extended the agreement by the number of months that I needed.
In my second IVA last year I missed 3 payments, they have told me that I need to extend my IVA by twelve months to repay themissed payments and their fees!! this seems over the top, also looking at the fees that have been charged they seem to be making more than my creditors will be receiving, once in an IVA can I change to a different practitioner or challenge the charges? When making calls to the comapny, I dont receive calls back and it seems that they are only interested in new business calls, not dealing with existing clients.

I would appreciate your advise.

Three payments in arrears would now normally constitute a default and your IP may have had to call a variation meeting to allow your IVA to continue. This could explain the additional costs your IP will have incurred and explain why the IVA has been extended. Without seeing the paperwork I am guessing but check with your IP and if they do not return a call send him/her an e mail.

Hi and welcome.

Just to answer another point, it is pretty night on impossible to change IVA companies once you are in an IVA. It would involve a court case and a lot of money!

You can find your IPs address here:

This is why it is important to find the right person to act for you in the first place.

Which company are you with?
