I had an Iva and eventually sold my house to clear all the debt. This finished about a year ago and then yesterday I received a cheque for over £15k with a letter saying that the money represents un-cashed dividends and was returned by one of my creditors.
The letter also explains that the creditor must now claim this money direct from me but doesn't tell me who the creditor is. I haven't contacted my administrators yet (it's Sunday today so they are not available, and they have given me rubbish advice previously). My question is how long do I wait for this creditor to contact me? It is a large sum, which would come in very handy, but I am worried that someone pops up in another five years and tells me that they want £15k plus interest. But the letter does say that the funds have been returned by the creditor. What should I do?
Not sure about this one at all - is it PPI? I would speak to your original IP and question this - as you said, you don't want it to come back and bite you on the rear end in the future!
