Hi bigbirdpurple and welcome to the forum

Sorry to hear about your car. But I am not sure I understand your query. What exactly are your proposing to do? If the car belongs to your parents, then surely this is an issue for them to deal with?

Hi
I'm a bit confused by your post.
Are you saying that you have written your car off and you are due to receive a payout from your insurance company. If so then you are free to use this money to purchase another car and if your parents want to add more to this money as a gift then that is fine

There is nothing wrong with your parents buying a car and then allowing you to use it, but I suggest that they retain ownership until you are free of your financial difficulties.
