Sorry, I know there's a lot of people with worse problems than me but I need a moan.

I feel awful - my throat feels as though there are a couple of golf balls wedged in it, the glands in my neck are swollen, my throat is throbbing and the pain is keeping me awake, which is unheard of for me!

Luckily our doctors has an online appointments service so I've managed to get one for this afternoon. I'm dreading being given antibiotics though as they always give me an upset tummy.

Sorry to go on, I just needed to have a good old moan and Dave and Harry are asleep!

I was wondering why you were awake at stupid o'clock!

Oh dear it does sound as though its the start of something and antibiotics will be the way to go. Maybe doc can give you some that won't affect your stomach.

Have you tried Chloraseptic ( spelling?)- I know its disgusting, but I find it does work.

.....hope Dave & Harry are not snoring like my lot are!

xx

Alternative hydrotherapy provides comfort in easing the pain for swollen glands. You need to take two small towels and two bowls full of hot and cold water, respectively. You need to soak the towel in warm water and compress the swollen place lightly and then you need to soak another towel in cold water and compress the glands lightly. This alternate hydrotherapy helps promptly reducing the inflammation locally.

Application of hot compress for 3-5 minutes on the swollen gland improves blood circulation of the infection affected area thus reduces pain as well as inflammation. The problem of sore throat is an essential side symptom of swollen glands and frequent gargle with salty water helps to reduce the problem of inflammation.

Frequent consumption of lukewarm water treated by fresh lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey helps to cure the pain as well as the infection of the glands. This home remedy works as good herbal support for antibiotics prescribed by the doctors in course of treatment.

Tyrozettes from the chemist are great too and they taste nice [:D][:D]

Take care Skip xxx

Thanks everyone - I feel guilty for moaning now! I've stayed off work today, although it's not as bad as it was in the night it's still throbbing.

Unfortunately I've never been able to gargle! I just swallow whatever it is I'm trying to gargle with, so salt water isn't a good one!

I'm feeling a bit sniffly now, so I don't know whether it's going to finally turn into a cold. Usually the sore throat then goes, but it doesn't normally take this long!

Luckily I have Dr Harry Puss looking after me!

Ah sorry you feel poo hun, hope doc sorts you out. Get plenty of rest and get Dave to wait on you. Aren't cats great at looking after you when you're sick?! Nia always jumps on me and rests her paw on my chest. X

Harry doesn't get that close unless he's planning on hurting me! He just curls up on the bed with me and goes to sleep and doesn't even attack my feet when I move them - that's progress!

I've been to the doctors and I've got tonsillitis. I've been given antibiotics, and when I explained about the dodgy tummy she gave me something different to penicillen in the hope it won't effect me - fingers crossed!

Hope you feel better soon Skip. Must admit that I find a hot water bottle better than any pet - even Lloyd!

Thanks Jan. I've been really hot so I won't need the hot water bottle at the moment, but I know it would be safer for me than Harry!

Dave just cooked me a nice dinner and ate most of it himself as I could only manage the mashed potato!

Well I'm off to the doctors to pick up a different prescription - I've had stomach cramps after taking 2 of the other stuff so it's back to penicillen and hope for the best!
