A better suggestion would be to ask your IP if you could forego one months IVA payments to fund the cost of the washing machine. This can then either be made up by increased payments, or at the end of the IVA.

It worked for me last year, if you see my blog I had an horrific time during the first couple of months of my IVA, I ended up a months payment in arrears due to boiler repairs and the need for a new washing machine. My IP was very understanding one payment was missed, boiler fixed and washing machine purchased. I paid an extra £60 per month from then on and finish paying my arrears in my February payment. Talk to you IP as suggested and I hope it's all sorted very soon x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Most IP's would accept a short payment holiday to allow for these unforeseen repairs/new priority purchases. Good luck
