It's going to be horses for courses - my wife has had no problems with her account but Co-op was one of my creditors and to be honest they were really brutal at the point I had to start telling them about the IVA>
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
Foggy they let me open a saver account last year just refused me initially but referred it to underwriters who said yes! had been with them for nearly 3 years by then though
Not much saving being done now mind!!!!!
Good to hear Recovering. I decided the Yorkshire Building Society e-saver was as good a home as any for my meagre savings. I say meagre, but they are far more than I have ever had before being rehabilitated
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
I am always confused and agitated that we are not allowed a regular current account with an IVA with some banks. If you have no overdraft facility then what's the problem? And as for not being allowed a savings account, is that a joke or what? For your non creditor banks, it's not like we rode in on a horse a robbed them at gunpoint! I understand there are some costs to running an account but my account is always in credit now so costs are at an absolute minimum in the grand scale of things with me having the potential to being a very profitable account holder in the future which may require their other 'products'. A very odd situation.
Just to add, I would say Co-op or Barclays are the winners at this point in time. I do not see why we should have to pay any extra to the so called chargeable accounts as having a basic account for everyone should be made available. Any very small costs of running such an account can surely be offset. In fact, I thought this was the law or going to be written into the law soon?
