Just wanted to say good luck Jane and I hope things work out for you.
I am along the road of trying to go for and iva, but just wanted to say a few words about creditors calling you.
When I knew I was no longer in a postition to pay them and needed advice and before I was late with payments I phoned them all and 'updated' my contact details with them. i have a fax line that comes into house and gave them that and updated my mobile to an old pay as you go one I have around the house that I leave on silent. I did ring and try to explain about why I could not pay, trying to get them to give me some time to do the iva and explain why I was having but some were so forceful I just don't bother to answer anymore as they call at all times, but never leave messages.
As I said before I wish you luck and take care of yourself
Be positive & look after yourself, there are more important things in life than debts....

Best Wishes

Emma x

Just wanted to say that we were with Baines and ernst for a DMP for 6 months paying £90 per month in fees alone to the company! then passed over to blair endersby for our IVA who tried to put £18,000 fees down! as most of you know these were reduced to £8.500 in the meeting. But speaking personally as someone who has an IVA with B&E I WOULD NOT recommend them. you cannot even speak to your ip directly. however, our IVA is working ok for us, thank god. Unfortunately we had not found this site in time to get the info re looking for a good compant etc etc.[:(]

Why spend life worrying...when you can spend it smiling!!

Hello Jane

I just wanted to wish you all the best with whichever route you take.
Personally I am appalled by the information you have been given by the DMP company. It horrifies me that when people are at their lowest and need the best advice possible there are companies out there that use scare tactics to ensure they get their commission.

I am BR, everyones circumstances are different, but for you personally with no property or high value assests, I would recommend BR.
It is a scary prospect, but for me personally BR has been nothing like I inmagined. You will be treated with dignity by the OR and the court staff and the OR will take full control of your debts and creditors.

I wish you all the very best

Pippa

Looks like B and E was milking you off on the DMP and then passing you case on for another big rip off -the fees this IVA pondlife instition was advocating 18K you say -nothing short off raketering.

Well done Jane

B and E are singing all the way to the bank at your and others like you, expense.

Its a shame these people are allowed to get away with it.

Hi
I think it's the unregulated debt management companies that have pushed people into IVAs,however as I've said before every IVA has to be proposed by a qualified IP so that sort of kills that arguement.
Situations like this do anger me and I think that companies are preying on vulnerable people, luckily jane found this forum but how many don't find it before it's too late ?

I agree Andy - I hate the fact that there are companies out there who take advantage of vulnerable or desperate people.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.
