I settled my IVA early (after 2 years)in March 2008 and was wondering how do I now get my name cleared? Also, I applied to my bnak (Co-op)for a normal bank account (I currently have a Cashminder Account) but was refused.

Hi,

Your IVA will remain on your credit record for 6 years even though you finished early.

I would order a copy of your record from the three companies, Experian, Equifax and Call Credit. If any of your creditors are showing defaults after the date of your IVA approval then you can write to them and tell them to remove the defaults - they are not allowed to default once your IVA has been approved.

Once you've checked your report, I'd also ask your bank to review their decision and perhaps guidance on when they would look to grant an application to upgrade your account.
