I have an iva meeting today as i cant pay all my debts as i was made redundant. I seen on all the documents they sent that i would be able to keep some of it but ip is saying because they worked out my money on my jsa allowance i have to put 100% of my redundancy into my iva.... I think i am being duped here

It depends upon the terms in your arrangement -- is it a Protocol IVA ( it will say on the front) ? Usually you are allowed to keep 6 months usual salary, with which to pay the IVA while seeking work. However .. in your case they seem to have calculated the income on what you have coming in after you left the job and that income is still ongoing -- so there is no need to allow you to keep 6 months worth to "keep you going".

I think they are correct in what they are doing, if that is the case.

The poster does not say he's recieving pay every month CV on top of the JSAso if this is the scenario do u live on thin air and pay all redancy and still keep paying it's just a thought on the post as it stands

Is this a variation meeting? Are you already in an IVA?

Dawn .... the OP's I&E must have been worked out on JSA ( don't see how -- nor do I agree that it should) ... that must have produced a surplus somehow ! OP says they did it !

Hi all the meeting was today to start my iva its been excepted thank god.when i was made redundant i looked into an iva i had claimed jsa get my first payment next week my i&e was worked out on what i would receive from jsa and because of this all my redundancy would have to be paid into the iva.when they called today to tell me my iva was successful i asked again about my redundancy and that i was now in debt with my rent as im waiting to hear about housing benefit they then allowed me to keep 3months worth of rent so i could pay it while waiting to hear if i hadnt of asked i suppose the would have took it all so still think ive been duped but now iva was successful im so happy
