I want my son to go for an IVA - he has been dogged with debt ofr years and some debts are from years ago and obviously given up - as I have the paperwork, should I declare them and 'open up old wounds' or just ignore them?

Hi
Your son needs to do this himself. He can come clean with all debts and have a fresh start under an IVA or bankruptcy.
See if you can get him to post on this site.

Hi lmc

If your son decides to enter into any form of insolvency procedure - IVA or bankruptcy - then all of his debts will need to be declared. Hang on to that paperwork whilst he makes his mind up, and do try and encourage him to do something as these things have a habit of never going away!
