Hi I've just started the IVA process and I've been told by my IP to stop paying my creditors, but what is the best way of dealing with the phone calls ? I'm dreading them, particularly from my bank. Would it be best for me to contact them first or hold fire ? I'd be really grateful for any advice. Thanks Sarah

this is the norm to stop paying the creditors, there is no easy way of dealing with the calls they will happen i am afraid one poster here use to phone them everyday and update them on were they were at and they felt that helped, what others have done is to refer them to there ip, it doesn't get easy but you can ask that they contact you by mail instead and quote that you feel you are being harrassed, one word of caution as they don't get easy is do not give into them when they say your iva will not be approved if you don't make token payments, just explain you are going for an iva this is my ip deal with them and thats it

First thing I would do is contact your phone company and barr all annonymous calls, that will stop a lot of them. You can also have a 'choose to refuse' option with the phone company for a very small fee you can have specific numbers barred.(that will stop the rest of them)
Keep the IP's number and reference by the phone and just refer everything to them.
The phone calls are a daunting thought at first but not as bad in reality as you think they might be and you will get used to them. They will soon get fed up and go away

In my experince there is no easy way of dealing with them, just be strong and refer them to ur IP. We used to get hassled almost everyday at the start, some were awful so were brilliant.

Thanks to everyone who replied it really helps knowing theres other people out there who are going through the same thing. Fingers crossed everything goes OK, I have been told I have every chance of getting an IVA so heres hoping. Sarah

One word of caution about barring phone calls at home, make sure your creditors don't have your work number because if they can't contact you at home they will contact you at work, happened to my husband.
