It must be an age thing but when I was in my first childhood we all knew how to entertain ourselves and didn't want grownups getting in the way except for necessary duties like buying the odd couple of dozen icecreams or paying for the trip to Seaburn amusement park. We wenmt out around 7:30 to 8:00am and weren't seen again until dinnertime which in our house was around 6:00pm. Our parents LOVED the holidays ... they got rid of us for 7 weeks [:D]

Same here Ray! I would be out in the street playing with my neighbourhood friends. Could be skipping, making up little adventures or playing with dolls. If it was raining we used to use our garden shed. I only went in for food and bedtime.

Oh me too. I feel for the kids really as they don't have the same freedom we had. There's no way I'd be happy with my girls doing that these days though. Too many nutters out there sadly.

We have a local play scheme that offer free sessions daily. The sessions are from craft to abseiling to x-box competitions and football. If you contact your local council, they should be able to tell you what's on - or look in a local newspaper.

Failing that, any old shirts that they could 'fashion design' on? I used to paint paperweights from old pebbles in my youth and press flowers!!

Enjoy the time with them - it'll be over all to quickly!
