Each IP has their own agenda, I was allowed to keep ours with no problem.

At the end of the day, it is what is affordable in an IVA. If you have a half decent car (as we did) and it will last you for the entire period, then it shoud be allowed.

I had a client keep a Mercedes Compressor worth over £20k because they ran a business and had to give an impression of being successful or the IVA would not have worked. The debts were very high as were the payments and some creditors did squeal a bit but ultimately if you can justify what you propose it is then down to negotiation at the meeting of creditors. I would never preempt what creditors will say because if they do not like the proposal they have the option of modifying it.

I very rarely ever have problems with car valuations, but it is interesting to see what happens in other firms.

When my IVA was originally proposed, I was allowed to keep a really nice convertible car worth £20k on the grounds that it was befitting my status and job I was doing at the time and was important to maintain my image in the industry I was working in. Not one of the creditors questioned the car - I was surprised to be honest but my IVA told me they were very happy with the arrangement.
IVA Completed! :-)
