I seem to be messed about by my so called helpful IVA company(Grant Thornton) i have sent my revised expenditure details toi then but then i get a call saying they never got the paperwork in the post so then i have emailed it to the person they stated and then that person isn't on my case any more and could i resend it to another person. if my IVA fails what are my options, am i able to move to another company or do i face bankruptcy automatically ?
Hello, Sorry to hear you are having problems. It's virtually impossible to move your IVA to another firm. I would suggest you speak with your I.P directly to resolve this issue. Contact them directly and tell him/her your worries and I'm sure things can be sorted out. Keep us updated.
You wouldn't be able to move unless your iva failed and you proposed a new one.
Sorry you've had problems and do agree that you should contact the ip directly.
However, GT are shutting for Christmas at lunchtime so you're unlikely to get a reply until the beginning of next year.

I would just keep making your normal payments in the meantime and chase them up in the new year, as long as you keep making your payments then your IVA won't fail.
Why do you feel your IVA might fail? Are you struggling to make the payments? If this is the case it is always best to try and find a solution with your IP which may well involve a variation to reduce your payments if your circumstances have changed. However if you feel that you really can't continue then you would have to stop making your payments and allow your IVA to fail.
At this point your options will depend on whether you are a homeowner and if there is equity in your property. If not you have to option of starting a new IVA with a different IP, doing a DMP or declaring bankruptcy yourself. If you do have home equity then there is a risk that your IP will be obliged to force you into bankruptcy so where this is the case you have to tread a bit more carefully.
It is always frustrating when this sort of thing happens, but if they have made a mistake and have received your paperwork - which seems likely if you have an e-mail confirmation - then they are sure to want to work with you positively in the early New Year to resolve this matter.

Meant to post on this ages ago..anyhow my iva failed. I got another one as soon as I got the failure notice which happens normally after a few missed payments. . My husbands came quickly, mine was a good few months more. Br is an option but I would discuss with a professional. Hope all is well and you don't need to fail your iva
