Hi guys,

dont know if anyone has any advice they can give. Iv been in an IVA for over a year and its all going smoothly....!
im a bit worried with my work situation though. I suffer from chronic migraines and these can be ranging from 8-15 attacks a month. as you can imagine, it isnt the easiest thing to cope with and due to the debilitating nature of these, im off at least once a month. I was caused to a disciplinary meeting 4 weeks ago and issued a verbal warning where this will be looked at again in 6 months. Alredy since then, ive been off three times.

Im on medication for these and going to be referred to a neurologist for the second time.

Obviously, im worried about being fired and where i will stand in regards to my iva. im in a lose lose situation whatever way i try and approach this, and its stressing me out, which then doesnt help the migraines....[xx(]

if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your illness.

If you were to lose your job you could ask for a payment break whilst you look for another one. Otherwise you may well have to let it fail.

Do you have any assets that would be in danger if you had to go bankrupt?

Could you suggest to your company that you may be covered by the disability at work act, and ask that they refer you to a medical practitioner of their choosing who specialises in this. I did this 4 years ago and they had to make allowances for my illness

As an employer myself, I know how dangerous it can be to not support a sick employee - especially where there are grounds supported by medical evidence. There is a procedure to follow, and your employer needs to ensure that they are giving you every opportunity to deal with these attacks, which may be being made worse due to work related stress. It is possible that there may be a capability issue here, but again that has to be dealt with using the appropriate channels, and they have to try and offer you more suitable employment conditions before terminating your employment.
