I'm in and iva and have been for 6 months. I need to increase my gas and electric direct debit, can I deduct the extra payment from my iva payment each month?
You will need to discuss this with your IP, but assuming that they have discretion to reduce your IVA payments by up to 15% there should be no problem with this.
You will need to speak to your IP about this and explain what has happened.
You cannot just deduct money from your payments as you will be in arrears.

i know how you feeling , when we took our iva out we put down electric at £120 a month as we have no gas , this was summer and we are putting £160 - £180 a month on at the moment which we are struggling with but having to manage. But when my review comes along which might be sooner than later as my mortgage comes off fixed term i will mention it then
Good evening all. Would agree with the others nursecrippin, if your struggling then best to inform your IP...even if its temporary. Personally I think any change in circumstances regarding debts, credits etc should be notified straight away to our respective IP's in order that any problems can be sorted at the earliest opportunity or at least prevented from making our situations worse.
I came into this world with nothing and still have most of it left!
thank you mel, im holding on as my mortgage fixed rate comes to end in April so dont want to hassle you till then as my mortgage will go down a little bit so thought it might be better to contact the office then and get things reviewed, we are managing but didnt calculate the electric to take into account winter, with all this cold weather we are having. If i suddenly do really struggle i will contact you.
Thank you again
