I'm just about to apply for an IVA, my problem is that one of my creditors is a credit union that takes its payments direct from my pay. How do I go about stopping this payment?
I imagine that if you contact your payroll and ask them to stop paying it they will.
Have you contacted an IP? I recommend that you use one of the ones who post on here. They all come recommended. You can find their details under the experts link on the left hand side of the page. Give one or two a ring.
Some post on here, so I am sure that they will be along with advice later.

Assuming that this debt has not been enforced by a court as an attachment of earnings, then you would simply advise your wages department that the deduction needs to cease. A couple of points on this though, firstly make sure your provider is aware of your net take home figure WITHOUT this deduction. Although it would certainly be picked up on when wage slips are examined it would avoid any unnecessary confusion at the outset of any proposal. Secondly, be aware that the credit union will offset any savings you have with them against the outstanding debt.
