im thinking about starting in an iva, i owe £7000 in credit cards and loans, i also owe Inland Revenue £21000 in an apparent over payment which has occured over the last 7 years, i cannot prove that what they are claiming is incorrect so it looks as though i have to pay this money back, im really scared as i have a baby due in march and i cannot afford to live at the minute, could my over payment be included in an iva. thanks

Hi there and welcome to the forum

The debt to HMRC should be included in the IVA, so I would recommend that you take advice as soon as possible from an insolvency practitioner who can assess your financial situation and make suggestions as to an appropriate way forward.

Hi and welcome from me too.

You need to phone a couple of IP's to get advice. Visit www.iva.com where there are reviews for a lot of companies. If you visit the experts page link which you can find in the left hand column, there are a lot listed on there, most are highly recommended.

Give them a call, they will go through all your options to help you decide the best way forward.
