I have been in an IVA now for nearly 20 months and today I have received an email from one of my creditors offering me a second chance and a new credit card - no chance !

However if I had of been tempted I had been given an initial £1000 credit limit - no chance.

I am in an IVA for a reason and I do not intend to go backwards !

We had a salesperson in Asda trying to get us to have one this week! He was very persistent and I was tempted to tell him why we didn't want one, but I bit my tongue!

If you were to take the credit card and not use it would you be breaking the IVA rules?? It may be a handy thing to have come the end of your IVA to rebuild credit rating(so long as you can avoid using the flippin things)
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Vanquis! Wouldn't mind but the credit limit pre IVA was only £400 - now they are offering me £1000 and I am in an IVA!!!!

There is NO way I am taking this on - just can't believe they are tempting those of us into more debt !!!! Get lost to them is what I say !

Unbelievable. It is either a mistake or they are searching for more business!

Best thing to do with all of these? Hit the delete button or consign to the recycling!

maybe they offered you the card in principle without credit checking and then it would be declined was that the case?

we've been offered 2 loans this week, one from Black Horse who I have car HP finance with and the other one was from Ocean Finance, pleased to say both went straight in the shredding box, where they belong!!!!....our strangest one though was a couple of months ago when Capital One offered us a Credit Card...they were our only creditor who rejected our IVA proposal[:0]...does make me wonder though like markss mentioned that if we had applied, whether they would decline it? there was no way that we would ever apply though,....like luluj says,we are in an IVA for a reason and that is never to have another credit card again...
IVA accepted 13/11/2008..17 payments down,55 to go..

We always get them from Ocean Finance, as our secured loan was done through them.

We are one of their best customers, and they would love to lend us some more money!

They are all shredded.

I keep thinking of applying for a Vanquis card to try and rebuild my credit rating, but I don't think I could trust myself with it. Despite everything I think there's part of me that would use it!

The APR is very high on these cards, but if you can save them for just emergencies and pay off the balance quickly they may have some merit.

At the moment if I need a credit card Dave pays and I pay him back. That works for me at the moment and although it doesn't help my credit rating it stops me getting into debt! I owe Dave a bit, but at least he won't sell the debt on or get the bailiffs on me!
