That relates to a fiance I think, who is not a spouse until the marriage takes place. I could be wrong on this one, I am no real expert on the workings of the CRA's - hopefully Storm might be looking in tonight who is the expert in this area.

That's what I wasn't sure about. Sorry if I've confused matters!

Hello, I've just looked into that thread that you posted about Notice of Dissossiation and further down the thread a member called Crayon posted this link :

http://www.consumerwiki.co.uk/index.php ... ssociation

Which seems to say about being married, it doesn't make much sense to me - how about you experts out there who understand what all this means, please could you put in into Laymans terms for me?

Thanks for all your help.

hi chi,
just wanted to add to the good comments-at times like this you are receptible to feeling more vunerable-i know i still am !
dont worry what people think-like kal (jan) said theres only a remote chance of someone seeing anything.
i wouldnt give a second thought to that stuff instead concentrate on how well you are doing youre making a concise effort to sort things out and you are doing good.
we are your friends and we will support and help you all the way x

That is a useful document thank you, and does suggest that where there are no financial links or commonalities between husband and wife that the disassociation notice can be used.

We need to find a husband and wife in this situation to give it a try!

I'm a wife with a bad credit record and hubby's is fine as far as I know. I'll give it a go and see if he can file for disassociation. I'll let you all know.

Hi Melanie,

so would this not apply to us? We have 3 joint bank accounts, one that is about to be closed, one that my husbands wages go into and the other one that my money goes into, we don't really use each others accounts so it would probably be a good idea to get each others name taken off them, then the only thing that would tie us together would be the mortgage? I would like to get some information and advice on these matters before I file as it might be a way of keeping my husband and the kids out of my mess. Any comments?

Hi Viki, that would be good cos I'm sure I'm not the only person on here who still wants their partners life to go on so to speak! How long do you think it would take to go through?

Separation of your bank accounts is a good idea, if one of you is going to enter into insolvency proceedings and the other is not.

Just to update you all. Experian have just asked for an email from me with my details on, requesting that hubby be dis-associated from me. They said it can be done and it doesn't matter if we're married. I'll let you know if they actually do it.
