this is difficult, i dont like my name been on their, but then i think from business sense it needs to be so people know who they are dealing with and what the risk is, but that said isnt that why we have credit agencys for credit check.

If their is no real purpose to this register, would the goverment not be better closing it down and doing a new one and show all the peolpe who have been found of sexually assulting children with their details inculding dob and address, and if the argument is that these people need protecting, does any one care if something happens to them any way?

I'm with James on this one.

I think the register should exist though, just not with complete open public access. For people that need to know via some kind of vetting agency that ensure only those that need to know get to know

I was accepted for an IVA and was fortunate to be able to arrange a F&F with staged payments over 6 consecutive months paid by by my employer. My question is therefore, when will my details come off the register? when my last payment is made on August 1st (or soon after)? or is there a longer period for some reason? the register FAQ says " IVA: until completion, revocation or the failure of the arrangement."

Piston Broke - I believe your details come off the Insolvency Register within 1 month after you receive your Certificate of Completion & as your Certificate may take 2-3 after your last payment, it will still show on the IR for a short while although your payments are complete.

I don't believe any register should be available to the general public, whether it's the insolvency register or to use James's example the sex offenders register. The information should be there but on a need to know basis.

Mind you, with this government's record of losing data does it really make any difference whether it's private or public? The disc holding the data would be left on the bus!

Exactly!

I know that the sex offenders register isn't open to all, and whilst I totally abhor what these people have done, their details cannot be made public as we would be having half the population up for murder!

We who are insolvent, are not criminals, and whilst I don't agree that our records should be available to the general public, the fact that it is doesn't mean that we will have our heads kicked in!

It should be available to interested parties (creditors) for a hefty sum.

I agree - but at least it's better than everybody and his dog being able to look at it for free.

It would only be interested parties who would be able to afford the payment and you would have to give a good reason why you needed to view it.

I agree fully that it should only be certain parties that should gain access, not anyone who want a look especially if its to get details to then go and hassle people about mis selling of iva's etc.
