Totally agree with both the above posts - though have to admit that I do - and probably always will - feel a degree of shame about my debts.

I have finally tracked down the "IPC report" - it actually appears in full on the Nottingham Trent University website - it was prepared over 6 months by two academics from the Uni on behalf of the IPC.

It is long and not really appropriate for reading at 2 A.M. but I shall certainly give it a read later today.
47 months completed - 13 months to go.

My husband went to an Insolvency Practioner - Melanie Giles who posts on here - Melanie Giles worked for HIM alright - no doubt about that - got through for HIM a very difficult IVA which several firms rejected as "no chance"- obtained from the creditors everything he wanted. The budget Melanie proposed - fair and reasonable and easy to manage was got through untouched! Melanie served my husband proud. J

I would always recommend that posters visit www.iva.com for a list of many companies and a lot of reviews of said companies.

You will always get an excellent service from them and they are there to serve both the creditor and the debtor!

Should have added Jan, I think, "served my husband and his creditors proud" - just to keep the balance right. But whatever anyone says about IPs Melanie is superb. J

I'm not allowed to recommend anyone in particular unless anyone asks. However, I would always say that posters should ring one or two firms.

This firm is also aimed at company's, rather than individuals.

June
I think you will find that most posters on this forum have entered an IVA with their eyes wide open after having had their options clearly explained by one or other of numerous highly reputable IPs many of whom post on here regularly. We have chosen this route as a compromise after acknowledging that we were unable to repay our debts in full but felt obliged to repay as much as we could afford. None of us expect it to be an "easy way out" but, whilst our creditors wouldn't appear top of our dinner invitation guest list, we accept our share of blame in getting ourselves in above our heads. It is rare to hear of posters who regret setting out on their journey or who have anything other than the greatest respect and gratitude towards their chosen IP.

When I looked at the website it seemed more geared towards businesses, which wouldn't make me keen to approach them.

I'm not going to post it but not all the internet coverage is positive about the self appointed "UK's leading insolvency expert".

Oh I can't resist

Just as a tempter he's apparantly "banned for life from the Maldives!"

How many of us can say that?

I know, I know! I did some Googling and decided this wasn't a company the forum needed to be linked with...
