Maizie have a word with your IP. I think I remember reading a post on this site which said in special circumstances certain details could be ommitted from the register but your IP had to seek special permission. Worth checking methinks
My thanks to Melanie and her team :)

Blimey.... apart from being put in a safe house what else can I do.

I didn't realise about this 192.com... Im in even more shock! Maybe a move abroad would help... but then I couldn't afford it on my IVA anyway.

Nothing worse than feeling trapped and that your life is out of your control! :(

Obviously I don't know the background but as you feel at risk I'm wondering whether a change of name by deed poll might be the answer for you Maizie. I say this because my details (including my age) appear on 192.com even though my entry in the electoral roll is for limited disclosure. My address isn't shown by default but would imagine it would simply be a matter of registering for the service to reveal it. If your wish to avoid detection is total (and I can understand why it might be) the only way to achieve this would be for you to change your name and move too, it seems to me.

Did you take advice from anyone about the threatening e-mail Maizie?

Ian

No I didn't seek any advice. I just got him removed from facebook and I blocked him. Haven't heard anything since but only a matter of time I guess.

I did tell my mother about it because it was targetted towards her too and she didn't seem bothered, but then again shes the type of person that burys her head in the sand and Im not like that anymore.

I didn't know whether to go to the police, they may see it as just one email, they would need more evidence to do something about it.

I have thought about changing my name... eventually when I am married I will take on my married name but it all seems so complicated... where would I start?!

Also if I went bankrupt at any stage would they put my new name in the advertisement or my old one?!

So much to think about, Im getting myself into a state about it. I thought the IVA was hard enough without this added stress!

Maizie, much of your problem is outside my sphere of expertise so, sadly, I'm probably not being of much help, and I apologise profusely if my reference to 192.com has made you feel worse.

I can answer your final point, though. I would advise that the bankruptcy order should be obtained before your move and any name change. If it's done after, any advert will need to refer to both names and both addresses. It will be (eg) "S Smith formerly known as...." You will obviously need to notify the OR of any subsequent change of name and address.

I have a lot to think about... seems like life in an IVA is harder than I thought!

Maizie, regarding BR - there is a post on the BR forum where someone asked the judge if their details could be witheld from the paper as they had been in an IVA. If you do need to go BR, I'm sure the judge would be sympathetic x

I've done everything I can gone x directory and taken my name of the short electoral role register so they do not appear on 192.com. The only problem is I'm on this IVA register and cannot do a thing about it.

OK maybe you would not get any credit now, but if I was a fraudster, I'd be storing all the IVA register data for when those records are clear and using them to obtain credit. It is very scary when you think about that.

Something has got to be done, I have already put a complaint into the Information Commissioners office as the register breaks the Data Protection Act 1998
