Same here, our junk is now mainly confined to insurance companies vying for my attention!

I too await my letter from the IVA council - I'm beginning to feel a bit left out because I haven't had one yet!

There will probably be more of the same type of letters heading your way, there appears to be no way to stop them.

Far too many sharks out there, best advice will be to bin them or pass them onto your IP.

They will try to convince you that you have been missold your IVA and offer BR as a better solution.

One of these firms, claim they can get your repayments back what you have paid into your IVA too

What they don't tell you is

If by some miracle they got the money back it would all go to the Official Receiver in BR

If you've paid into a IVA for more than 2 years, you'll go back to the beginning again with another default on your file which will take another 6 years to clear from the date of BR.

You'll have a default on your IVA.

You'll probably have a Income Payment Order, since you've been really good and made all those wonderful payments into your IVA with no problems todate. And that would last for another 3 years.

You would have paid them for the privilege of going BR, something in the region of £1,000 I've heard.

Thanks for that Inaiva,

If I get one, well probably two as my husband is in an IVA too, I will file it straight in the bin!

Iva's have enough bad press, but my experience with them and also from this forum they are the best thing in dealing with your debts, I just wish people would leave us alone and not try to make a fast buck!

Hi everyone

A first time poster but i have been reading this with great interest. The thing is that not everything is black and white. When someone shouts for help when they are in debt they don’t always shout help to the right people and the advised solution for someone’s debt is not always the correct solution. Each case needs to be assessed individually and only then can it be determined whether the advice given was the right way forward. The industry itself is full of scallywags that prey on the people in need of help but you can’t really say who the real angels are and who aren’t!! I think that its a good thing that any organisation whether it be an IP or an ambulance chaser should challenge advice given to the debtor, because how can you really tell if the advice given is the best advice for the individual concerned? I have had experience from both sides and i see both sides of the argument, but i do think that it’s down to the individual to seek out as much information as they can before deciding about the right way forward.
