Is it possible to write to my credit card companies and ask them to freeze the interest for a period of time to allow me to get to grips with the reduction of the balances? How would this affect me and can you give any advice as to what should be said in a letter?

Hi cmj

Well it is certainly possible to write and ask them, but I cannot guarantee you will receive a favourable response.

Your Citizen's Advice Bureau or the Consumer Credit Counselling Service will be able to help you with sample letters, or you could approach a Debt Management Company to do this for you.
