Hi

Noticed onebanking does a managed accountm for £12.50 per month the only problem being they dont allow DDIs,

Has anyone used them? Are they any good?

Also does anyone know of a car insurance company that alklows you to pay via Standing Order?

Thanks

Stu

Car insurance companies tend to allow you pay by direct debit in instalments or one off payments - not heard of standinbg orders.

Sorry not heard of the onebanking you mention, although it sounds like thinkbanking ! Personally I wouldn't pay to use my current account !

Do you not have a normal bank account Stu? Co-op are usually good with IVA's and you can do DD's with those. And it's free!

I'm surprised at the Co-op - they are usually quite good. I know someone on here sometime ago posted about Yorkshire Bank and they managed to get an account with them.

I don't normally recommend pre-paid cards as they carry a monthly fee which I don't agree with, but David Mond of Cleardebt does a card which is £9.95 a month and does direct debits and I believe you can have your salary paid into there. I think there is internet banking as well.

Did you ask the Co-op why they declined you an account? The only reason I know is that you are not on the electoral roll. Some people have appealed the decision and then been able to open an account.

Lloyds TSB might be worth a try - someone recently opened a basic account with them after they had gone BR.

Good luck with Lloyds - can you let us know how you get on?

The only other banks I can think might be able to help are Barclays and possibly Abbey. I know Barclays will open an account if you're bankrupt (unless you're me of course!) but I'm not sure about Abbey.

Have you tried Halifax Easy Cash account. You can set up Direct Debits from there. You can apply online.

If you google Clearcash it will come up and you can look it up. There are FAQ's on there. You have to have your salary paid in and it acts as a debit card as well.

You can only pay money in from a bank account though (yours or someone elses).

I don't know how they set up the DD's.

If you wanted to speak to David about it, visit the experts link on the left hand side of the page. You will find him on there and details of how to contact him are on there.

I have no idea if it is any good.
