I have just had an annual review and all I was asked for was an up to date I&E details and last 6 months pay slips. That's enough and all they are going to get!! Yes, one year in an IVA from August, another 4 years to go. It does seem like a prison sentence at times.

Kallis3, inaiva, maz and ladyh, just like to say thanks for your support, and would like to explain why DFD asked for a letter from my employer. I had just started a new job, when i took out my IVA. The new job was on six months trial, and unfortunately, it did not work out,so i left it. I telephoned DFD to ask their advice, stating that i would not be able to make the next months payment, they said they would be in touch, which of course they never did. despite several desperate phone calls no advice was given, so i had to cancel the standing order for that month, BUT lo and behold, two days after the cancelled payment they phoned me and were very abrupt, asking exactly just how and when the payment was to be made, i requested the payment be added on to the end of my arrangement, and they then told me it would cost me more, which i had to agree to. Anyway, i was out of work for two days, and started a new job the following week, when i called DFD to explain all was well and the payments restarted, they then asked for a letter from my new employer to prove that i was working again, and asking my income details. This is what i found hard, to start a new job only to have my employer find out about my financial state. Lucky enough, my employer is understanding, and obliged with no questions asked of me. I am not ashamed of my IVA, and fully expect to pay back what i owe, (as we all do).BUT privacy should be my choice NOT DFD's.
My new job is low paid, and i am having great difficulty meeting the payments (which is more than Half my wages) i am borrowing from friends and relatives to survive, and following previous advice from you guy's, i have requested a variation meeting be held, that was a month ago, and they have not done a thing, when i phone them, i only get to speak to someone that knows nothing about my case, and can NEVER put me through to my IP. Its all so frustrating and i do not know which way to advance the situation.
Thank You all once again.

DMP is a Debt Management Programme where you negotiate with your creditors to pay a lower monthly payment. These can go on for years as you will be paying back all of your debt. Some companies do not freeze interest though, and some will still put charges on.

A DMP is a debt management plan, this is where you arrange to pay reduced payments to your creditors and have no protection from court orders, baliffs, phone calls etc. They can also keep addin interest and they can drag on for years and years - I personally couldn't cope in a DMP.

I hope you get sorted.

hi everyone hope everyone well.i sympathise with anyone who has taken out their iva with dfd like i have.i really wished i had known about this site before i had taken out mine with them but as i was in a panic, i rushed in to things a little too quickly with the wrong firm for me.although after 3 months of my iva being accepted the calls and letters are subsiding .this is mainly because i photocopied the chairmans report myself and sent it to each of them (as requested by dfd when i was still getting 30 calls a day 2 months in).to actually talk to someone at dfd it can take 20 plus attempts on the phone to get through each time being charged for 2mins! i am myself thinking of making a complaint against dfd for the several blunders they have made since handling my case from january.enjoy the rest of your weekends everyone at least the sun is out which is free!! xx

I am afraid that this is the difference you can generally get when you use a larger operator rather than a smaller firm - although this should not necessarily be the case. Although I am not a fan of the "factory" based approach to personal insolvency administration, there are many happy clients of these firms quietly paying their contributions and going through their reviews with little bother - just as Lulu describes above.

An e-mail directly to your IP with a request that they speak to you personally ought to do the trick - and if not, there is a regulatory body which will hopefully listen to you.

I've had 2 annual reviews so far and on both occasions the IP has asked for P60, last 3 wage slips and breakdown of income and expenses.

I've not been asked to supply any employer letter at any time during my IVA.

When I voluntarily increased my payment after gaining a promotion a few months into my IVA, I did as a courtesy send my IP a copy of the "Congratulations" letter so they could see that my income had increased but that's as far as I'd go. And I would specifically ask they do not contact my employer too, which as far as I'm aware has never happened.

That is disgusting, it is your IP's job to send the chairmans report to creditors, as well as a annual report on how the IVA is progressing.

I am sure that DFD also sent the report out - surely Nicola is not saying that she was left to do this herself?

That's daft! The report has already been sent out, and there is no need to keep sending copies. The Insolvency Register would confirm the existence of the IVA for free!

It's just bad communication within the banks Nicola, but barmy that your IP would suggest that this could be rectified by sending out endless copies of the CR.
