I am shocked you couldn't stop your SO within 48hours.

With HSBC, I was always able to stop a DD or SO on the day it was paid before 330pm!! I was always told though to call within 48hours rather than doing it through Internet Banking.

If it is right you shouldn't have made the payment, then like Melanie says, DO NOT send the full cheque to your IP but the balance of the difference!

It's your money due not theirs!!!

I would definitely deduct the amount paid from the cheque to your IP - why should you have to struggle with an IVA payment and an increased mortgage?

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

As tempting as it is, i dont want to rock the boat and have things go wrong at the last hurdle.
Cheque been paid into hubbys bank today so as soon as is cleared they can be paid and things will be easier.

Hello Mrs Skint,

A deal is a deal. I'd also suggest that you pay the agreed amount minus the IVA payment that they have collected.

You'll have time to sort things out if the boat has been rocked.

May I suggest the "fait accompli" method.

Post a cheque for the amount due with a statement indicating the amount agreed minus the monthly amount they have collected after the final balance had been agreed. Mark your letter/statement with "full and final settlement per our agreement of (insert date)".

That way the onus on "starting a row" lays with the IP firm (who do not have a leg to stand on) not you.

Bet you don't hear from them again!
