Hi Simon

Welcome to this forum. I have certianly felt like you thats for sure. You have done the right thing trying to sort things out, the longer you leave it the worse it will be.
The creditors calls are the worst I unplugged my phone and just picked up any messages. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to stop them other than change your number. MBNA were by far the worst for me. You will feel better once things are sorted, it is hard living on a budget after using plastic but totally necessary.

Good Luck.
Linda

I love making my money stretch now. It's a lovely feeling to have money left at the end of the month, even if it's not much.

It can be fun to budget I do agree, I cut back here and there sometimes for a little treat. You can't always do it but just to prove you don't have to go without.

Once upon a time, I'd have had a whole new outfit, shoes, bag, underwear everything for a Christmas Party or I wouldn't have gone.

This time for the FF Xmas Party, Shoes I already own, Treggings bought from a voucher from DP's, Top Primark, Overshirt Primark, Jewellery Primark or daughters, bag-daughters. Underwear my own!

Honest to think I've spent probably £13 on this outfit is amazing, normally it'd be £130 and I'd still have my hair done etc., This time £13 and hoping daughter will do hair in the morning before she leaves for work! Hubby has all his clothes already he needs buy nothing.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

it will all be worth it in the long run though even down to the food shopping hopefully i will eat a lot helthier as i wont be going for the expensive convenience food.

i just wish everything could hurry up so i know where i am.. i feel lost inbetween things at the moment

The phone calls are a pain.... but they do stop eventually. American Express were one of my worst, and the only ones who contacted me at work constantly! MBNA were not far behind, 10 calls in one day on the answer machine!

Nobody calls me now, and I hardly ever get any mail!!!!! [:D][:D]

That's the strangest part of the IVA, still not used to not having a rain forest deposited through the letterbox every day![:0]

chin up, it does get better[:D]

Hi Simon,

I am in a similar position to yourself as far as just starting the IVA process is concerned, and although I am still getting the phone calls as the IVA isn't fully in place yet, all I can say is keep your chin up and get through this part and I'm sure all will be sorted out before you know it.

I had my first month on a fixed budget this month, and whilst it was hard work, it felt good that I made it to the end of the month and still had a couple of quid left in the bank :)
30th Dec 2015, the day the IVA ends. What a New Year that will be !!

I'm almost 23 months into my IVA and still enjoy the feeling of having a few quid left in my account or purse at the end of the month. Hope all goes well for you in the process of starting your journey.

Don't pay £40 for a mortgage statement. If you have an older one it should be sufficient or the balance can be calculated from the original loan offer. If you get a verbal figure from your mortgage provider that should be enough but make sure any figure includes penalties for early settlement.

It's disgusting that they charge for these statements. It's a few buttons on a computer and a couple of sheets of paper plus postage.

They waste more money sending out the unwanted junk mail!
