Hi folks, sorry been away from forum a while... I am still trying to settle in the new job... BUT... What I got in the mail today has got me banging my head again, so thought just drop in a comment...

Not satisfied with having closed down one office a couple of years ago and then get into conflicts of policies with new office IP... I am now told that they are to close the other office and move my papers on again and to be now dealt with a group partnership "Synergi Partners Limited"...

Has anyone heard of this group? ... It really makes me nervous when they move things about, especially after last time, and of course now again I will have another IP with potential understanding issues again! ... AND having to explain all over again as it seems that last time my case was not properly read or followed up properly!!

I now have to wait until Synergi get in touch with me that they have my files transfered before I can send anything more off from the usual monthly paperwork process... So in fact my case is in supension files until they are settled in place as I have no new address to deal with yet!

Hi Gordon
Hope the new job is going ok.
Synergie are not one of the most popular companies as some have had problems with them. Take a look at their reviews on iva.com. Most of the problems I have heard are more with the setting up of iva's, with their taking upfront fees and not returning them when the iva fails.
They may be ok with continuation of your iva though. I dont feel it is fair that one of the most important things is to choose your IP firm carefully, but then if that firm closes you have absolutely no say in the matter of where you are passed to.
I do hope it goes well and sorry not to sound positive about them. Others may have personal and better experience of them. I only speak as I have read on the forum.

It would appear according to the letter from my IP (Neville Eckley) ...

"I write to inform you that as a result of re-organisation within the Debts.co.uk.plc Group, the office in March (Peterborough) will be closed on 28th December 2007. Consequently, your case will be transferred to the Head Office at Chesterfield for adminsitration by a Group Member - Synergi Partners Ltd. You will be contacted in due course by the Supervision Team at Synergi Partners Ltd."

I understand the reports of concern and that as my case is already set up, but in my case, I feel that it will also be likely that due to my new job, within short time into new year, I will need to look at making arrangements for a variation... I may be wrong, but it is a possibility, and if they are as bad as publicised, then I now worry how it will be handled... I still have 25 of 72 payments to go!

I also worry because of their closure date as stated, because my review date is only 4 weeks after!!!!!!!! Will they have all matters in hand by then? I think not ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

It is a sign of the times that IVA portfolios are being sold and purchased, and does bring uncertainty to clients.

You are not wrong Melanie... I get a shudder each time the thought comes up... I know what it feels like... It has already happened once, as you will recall... I just wish that they would advise that they have whatever issues and give me the option to continue with them or transfer to one of my choice...

Synergi has never come up from Neville Eckley before and not aware it was related (if it is)... I was on the understanding of last change as indeed this one, it is just a closure of office and transfer to another regional office within the company... but the name Synergi makes my blood curdle based on the history read here...

It will be interesting to see how it transposes itself!

Hi Gordon,

The only advice i can give you after having to deal with this company is to make sure you take names times dates etc, if you call them. Also if you send anything by mail register it etc. I do hope that as your IVA is already up and running you dont encounter any problems as most of the of what i have read and including my experience is that they do not put forward a true propsal to the creditors and adjust I & E to get it approved which results in many failing. And by the time they arrange a meeting they have already pocketed money from payments so they are not really bothered if it fails, I lost nearly 4K to this company which when i asked them to send me an invoice of the costs so far i ended up oweing them something like £5 which they said they would waiver yeh right I just see red everytime i hear this companies name being mentioned and my heart sinks.

I dont wont to worry you Gordon but please be carefull and keep records.

Thanks Coco, I will bear that all in mind... I do keep careful records of correspondence, but it will not help matters if they are just too damn thick to see reality... Will just have to see how it pans out, but seems that I will only next be in touch (for the first time) at the point of the next review in January (if I get address details!) ... I cannot risk sending anything out to current IP now as it stresses in letter that I must wait for Synergi to contact me!!!!!!

gordon hope it all works out for you, neville eckley and synergi were the 2 ips that debt councillors used.

i really wish you all the best and hope it runs smoothly as coco said document everything when you have dealings with them and always take a name as you rarely speak to the same person but with your iva already running i shouldn't think that there would be a problem.

Thanks Kerry,

All I hope will be ok, but since experiencing the last office move of papers, it took 4 months before they found my stuff again... My review is end of January and would hate that it goes belly up at end of year 4 of 6 because of their incapability of keeping shop!

Then there is this job change that is highly likely looking towards arranging a variation within the next 3 months!!
