The day has finally come, my cert of completion has arrived this morning.[:D]

The last 2 years have without doubt been the hardest I have ever had to deal with, but I would also say that is has been a valuable lesson in alot of respects.

For anyone just starting or already in an IVA, I can safely say that you will not find a more friendlier, helpful and experienced bunch of people than on this forum.

A massive thank you to everyone for all your advice and contributions.

Alas, I am still in need of some advice regarding PPI claims.

I have had loans prior to and that were not included in my IVA that I can claim back miss sold PPI on.

My query is,
would you use an outside company to process your claim ?
Do it yourself, If so how ??

Lastly, on the consumer action group website it lists contact details for the major banks. Whilst reading the Barclays section it states you can make your claim via the phone and they state that they would rather deal with you direct. They also claim this is the faster option.
Only problem I forsee with this is that they obviously record your phone calls and one wrong word from yourself could potentially damage any exsisting or alternative claim.

What do you think ??

Thanks again

Congratulations moneyprobs!!

I used an outside company when claimed my ppi last year from santander, but they were the cheapest at the time wanting 35% ! Luckily we got a nice 6k back within 4 weeks, so we didn't mind so much.
I found out around 3 months later that you can do it yourself by using a template found on the web I believe, but this may take them longer to process.
I also claimed recently by speaking the the loan company direct, RBS, and waited 13 weeks before getting a letter Saturday stating that they were refunding my ppi payments to date and also adjusting my current loan balance, so they reduced it to a total of £45oo ! This loan is now in my IVA so although I won't see it, I feel very pleased that it has helped somewhere !!
Started IVA 27th Feb 2012 - Due to complete 27th Jan 2018 !!

Full & Final submitted and accepted 30th March 2015, paid 10th April 2015 - 3 yrs 1 month into IVA :)

Completion Certificate received- 30th April 2015!!

Well done on getting your certificate.

I certainly wouldn't use a firm to claim back the PPI, as lem says, you should be able to find a template letter.

Congratulations.

On the subject of PPI, if I were to do it, I would do it myself .... outside companies get 25% foe writing one or two letters !!!!

There is a section all about it on Martim Lewis's site, with letter templates
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Andy. As a couple of firms have mentioned, the vast majority of claims are being accepted uncontested at the moment, so using an agent is an expensive sledgehammer to crack the nut.

congratulations from me too....

PPI claims - I am currently chasing a claim that has had to go to the FSCS as the company are no longer trading - we are using a company to do this and yes they do take a % but they have been able to use their experiences to ensure the paperwork and statements written have been done in such a way that we should receive some money back !

I looked at doing it myself, and although the forms appear to be straightforward, I took the decision to use someone to do it for me ! The company we are using are a no win, no fee basis and it is based on a % share depending on the refund amount !
