This might sound a strange thing to say but it's good to be back here. 12 months ago I was here looking for help with my debts. At teh time I thought I could deal with it myself and so embarked on talking with my creditors directly and came to an agreement with. All was working fin until earlier this year my dad died and without going into detail it knocked me sideways. As a result finances took less of a priority and I now find myself falling behind on payments. Not because I can't pay them but because my mind has been in a different place and so I haven't kept up the payments. As a result I am now being threatened with a CCJ by two of my creditors. After a long hard look I have decided that I need help with thiEspecially after sitting down and suddenly realising that if I did carry with my arrangement then it would take me almost 20 years to pay it off!!!
Anyway i am here now and have learnt my lesson. I will be making plans to speak with a couple of companies but have two questions.
1. The CCJ's haven't started yet and I haven't even received the solicitors letters. How do Igo about sorting these out?
2. I currently have a debit card bank account with Lloyds that I opoend just over 12 months ago in anticipation of my previous bank freezing my account, which they did. I do not have any debt with the LTSB Group. Am I able to keep this account going or will I need to inform them of what I am doing?
Hey d.cg, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. This must all be awful for you, don't worry we're all here for you.
If you have no debts with LTSB then you will be ok to keep your account. If you contact an insolvency practitioner as soon as possible then it may be possible to stop the ccj.
There will be a solution, you just need all of your options discussed with you. Have a look at www.iva.com and read the reviews of IPs on there, speak to couple before you choose anyone and see what advice they give.
I'm sure the technical experts will be along shortly to help you, hang in there. X
Thanks both for your responses. WOW this really is the place where people don't sleep!! I had help before and, foolishly, thought I could do it on my own. Lesson here for anyone new is take a deep breath and look at where you are. It's a long road, but not a lonely one. It feels good to be back here, with so much support and I feel foolish for being so stupid [:o)]. But thisis the start. Onwards and upwards!!!
You will feel the weight lift from your shoulders as soon as you chat with an IP and get a plan in action.
Dont feel foolish, most on the forum have been where you are right now and soon the feelings of shame vanish.
The great thing for any IP instructed to act for you, is that you are a fighter, and have tried your best to deal with your creditors. That sort of commitment to a repayment plan ought to set you in good stead for a very successful IVA - if that is the route you eventually decide to take.
Thanks for your kind words Melanie. Hopefully people will read my comments and realise that there is help out there and to listen to the experts. Whilst they give slightly differing views sometimes they are all going in the same way. Like I said it's good to be back

Really sorry for the loss of your Father, just really wanted to say that to you. I know what its like to lose a parent when youre kind of on your knees already because of debt.
I really hope youre feeling better and are well on your way to sorting something out.
Hi Lily, thanks for your support. There are so many unselfish people on here who want to help despite their own problems. Also helps to puts things into perspective!
