Alot of positive replys which has been good, the way im trying to think of this is if i had no debt or credit cards to begin with then this would have been the way i would of been living within my means, with budgeting and saving for things.

Its just trying to get use to the change of lifestyle but thankyou all for the positives

Hi nu4an

As you live in a housing association with your mum and have no assets it may be worth looking at an IVA alternative such as bankruptcy, the difference being certain to be released from debt in 12 months rather than possibly released from debt in 5 years if you manage all the payments, however if you have already considered this and decided on an IVA then I wish you well with your chosen company.

I'm with moneyplus and wish i wasn't.
Please check out whoever you go with.
I completed my payments in August 2013 and I'm still waiting for my certificate. When I call them i just get to speak to whoever picks up the call, they refuse to put anything in writing to why I havent received my certificate so I have now put in a complaint which is going to take upto 8 weeks for me to get a reply
last payment made August 2013,Completion Certificate received 12 November 2014

I've had bad vibes about them from the start, I received paperwork today and looked through it all, if I decide that I'm going to decline going with them there aren't any fees I should have to pay is there? There's a few mistakes on the proposal such as they had me down as being made redundant back in 2011 but I never was.

I have some assets such as a car and electronics would bankrupcy be better? Have about £14000 debt but have never missed a payment yet

BR and, indeed, an IVA might be a bit drastic for that level of debt. Have you explored a DMP ?
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

A DRO may even be an option depending on the surplus income and value of the vehicle. Definitely speak to someone else and do not pay over any money.
